Two pages at the end of the book have a tear in the outer edge but these are just pages advertising other Penguin books rather than part of the contents of 'English Food'. There is some creasing to the spine and the corners of the cover show wear and creasing. On the inside of the front cover is stamped 'Pulp Copy Penguin Books Ltd' which I fear means that it was a surplus book which should have been recycled into new paper but which by some means was not 'pulped'. All I can say is that I bought it recently from a charity shop where it was on display having been donated to the shop.
