Beautiful, sexy, thirtysomething Carmen Legg is successful in business and irresistible to men. In fact, men just wont leave her alone. They ogle her during business meetings, they paw her at parties, they demand sex on first dates; even her steady partner insists on making love after a long day at the office. So she places a small ad in the newspaper for the perfect mate--an intelligent, but impotent man. Somewhat surprisingly, an awful lot of them reply. Yet more surprisingly, Carmen cheerfully invites each in turn to her home, meets them alone in unfamiliar locations, and generally works on the assumption that men who cannot get it up are no threat in any other department either.
Fortunately her neighbour, the feisty, octogenarian Elvira is there to steer her away from danger, while her girlfriend Laura acts as backstop. But sex without penetration, Carmen discovers, whilst spectacularly exciting, is somehow incomplete. When she finally falls for the devastatingly handsome, charming David, Laura points out to her that she's not quite as happy with non- performance as she had claimed: "You wanted an impotent man, and you've got the impotent man of your dreams and now you want to turn him into a potent superman".
