Kat (USA: CA) (2008/07/22): I was neither in fits of laughter nor did I find this memoir deeply touching. In fact, I was troubled by how selfish and self-involved the narrator was. Sure, having a baby as a single mom is an extremely difficult choice, but it is one she intentionally made. Her lover does not go MIA; rather she breaks up with her. And her friends should not be expected to shoulder the burden of other parent. There is so much to explore in this topic, and yet the author ended up coming across filled with oh-woe-is-me whinging. Perhaps I missed the bit that was intended to send me into gales of laughter or I misread the tone completely. I was disappointed.
