A new voice in fiction debuts with these interconnected tales of life, love--and turning thirty. Mixing simple Hemingway-esque bluntness with the jaded wit of today's urban woman, Tippens pens the story of Faith, a small-town girl in the big city whose birthdays speed by faster each year but whose dreams seem to be stalled at the roadside.
Amazon.com Review
Oh, to be young, female, and searching for love and happiness in Manhattan. Elizabeth Tippens' collection of linked short stories gives us Faith, an aspiring actress biding her time as a Bloomingdale's perfume spray-girl. In"Perfume," girl meets older, richer record producer. Girl dumps older, richer record producer, who turns out to be a jerk. Later, in "Ornithology" girl meets wonderful guy her own age. Wonderful guy makes delicious omelets. Girl dumps wonderful guy for older, richer record executive. The material may not be entirely new, but the author brings a talent for telling detail that makes the characters and the situations seem fresh.
