Reviews:
Faustess (USA: WA) (2007/08/08): I did not particularly enjoy this book, I think because I have more of a background in art history than the author assumes of the audience. Not that I'm a big expert or anything, but I felt the author oversimplifies too much.
I'd say it's great for someone with no art history background looking for someplace that's not intimidating to start. For anyone who's taken a couple intro to art history courses, you'll probably find it's stuff you already know. For people in the second boat, I'd recommend Gombrich's The Story of Art; even though it's long, it's very readable, but not overly simplified.
