1022 Evergreen Place, Unit B
Cedar Cove, Washington

Dear Reader,

Guess what? I'm falling in love! With Mack McAfee.

My baby daughter, Noelle, and I have been living next door to Mack since the spring. I'm still a little wary about our relationship, because I haven't always made good decisions when it comes to men. My baby's father, David Rhodes, is testament to that. I'm so worried he might sue for custody.

In the meantime, the World War II letters I found are a wonderful distraction. Both Mack and I are trying to learn what happened to the soldier who wrote them and the woman he loved.

Come by sometime for a glass of iced tea and I'll show you the letters. Plus I'll tell you the latest about Grace and Olivia, my brother Linc and his wife Lori (who tied the knot about 5 minutes after they met!), and all our other mutual friends. Oh, and maybe Mack can join us...

Mary Jo Wyse

Marianne (Australia) (2012/10/30):
1022 Evergeen Place is the tenth full-length novel in the Cedar Cove series by popular US author, Debbie Macomber. Fans of the series will be pleased to once again join this delightful small town community in Washington State. The address is the duplex belonging to Mack McAfee, where Mary Jo Wyse also lives. Mack has been in love with Mary Jo ever since they met at baby Noelle’s birth, but Mary Jo is wary of involvement since David Rhodes abandoned her to her fate. Mack learns that lying is not the way to build trust. But together, they have also been researching the origin of some World War II letters found under the floorboards. Mary Jo’s brother Linc is newly married to Lori Bellamy, but is having problems convincing her influential father that he is no gold digger. Has Will Jefferson turned over a new leaf? The Gallery owner has been trying to court local artist Shirley Bliss, but he is in for a surprise after he takes her to a showing by artist Larry Knight. Shirley’s daughter Tanni is missing her boyfriend Shaw, but gets some good advice from an unexpected source. Christie Levitt’s relationship with James Wilbur is still rocky, and Deputy Sheriff Gloria Ashton finds herself irresistibly attracted to Dr Chad Timmons. Corrie and Roy’s desire to become grandparents is fulfilled when they learn of Linnette’s wedding and pregnancy, but another present-day situation opens old wounds, and Roy is determined not to let history repeat itself. Long-standing characters like Corrie, Peggy, Olivia and Grace bring the reader up to date with events and people as they chat. Rachel Peyton is having difficulty coping with her step-daughter Jolene’s attitude, especially now that she is pregnant, and Bruce seems oblivious to it all. Eventually, the tension builds until the climax that erupts is Bruce’s worst nightmare. Macomber’s strength is her characters, people the reader will come to care about, and her realistic and occasionally unpredictable plots. Her novels always leave the reader wanting more, and fans will look forward to finding out what happens to the Cedar Cove residents in the next instalment, 1105 Yakima Street.
