Chris (France) (2012/04/23): Fans of Kathleen Winsors "Forever Amber" will probably be shocked by this dark erotic tale written by the same author nearly 40 years on. Set in medieval France the lovely Princess Arabella encounters a dark handsome gypsy when out for a gallop with her ladies in waiting. What follows is an elopement that can only be described as sex on wheels, for Robert leads Arabella astray through the country lanes of the south of France in his caravan. Maybe Ms Winsor was inhibited by contemporary values when she wrote "Forever Amber" for "Robert & Arabella" is the product of love conquered by lust. Yet it is worth reading if only to compare how a fertile imagination can be tainted by life's experiences.
