Diane P (USA: NC) (2008/09/08): I've always been a huge Stephen King fan, and my uncle enjoys Dean Koontz. He gave me this book, and I agreed to give it a try. While I did get through the book, I think it's more because I didn't have anything else to do than because the book itself was really that good. I didn't really care about the characters. It was kind of like, yeah, they might get killed, or be in trouble, but I don't really care what happens to them. It's not even that they weren't likable...they just weren't all that interesting. Throughout the book, they allude to "big secrets" that the characters have in their pasts, and upon revelation, they were no more exciting than the characters themselves. I'd be willing to give another Koontz book a try (after all, I did get through it), but it wasn't one of those can't put it down suspenses that I love from King.
