although I didn't really care for the story, the effect of the book was grand. Very different concept for fantasy, although they do end up questing. The writing of the book was very fantastic! I did, however, absolutly hate the main character. He was not a good person, and a friggin' whinner to boot. Drove me nuts. Anyway, I've noticed that people either hated these books or loved them, I am amongst the group who hated the series. Even so, I'm still going to read the third series anyway, cuz, I gotta know what happens in the end. :P
