Holly is the almost thirty main character in this story, who lives in Dublin, Ireland and loves her life. She was head over heels with Gerry and loved him with all her heart. When Gerry suddenly dies her whole world is thrown into chaos. Gerry knowing Holly would stop her whole life, planned out before his death, to help her over come her grief through a year worth of love notes. One for each month and to be opened only by her. Even though at times this book was slow it was very touching and is a great read and still deserves the fours stars.
Ps I love you is Cecelia Ahern's debut novel. Granted it was a good first book but it still came off amateurish at times, and sometimes Holly complained a little to much for my taste. I preferred the movie to the book but I was glad that I had read the book before seeing the movie since it filled in some gaps. The book was slow in some parts, where she dealt with her family, to the point where she nearly drowned them in her own sorrow. The ideas and actions often wandered - something deep would be discussed and then BAM! - they're in the middle of the ocean? The prose was not sophisticated - it almost sounded as if it hadn't been proof read. Overall, plot was good, writing was not. An ok read
