Status message:
I am a non-smoker who sometimes lives in a house with dogs--I crash at my parents' house with our canines over college breaks. Most of the books I own are used, and so I can't vouch for their history beyond my ownership, but I do describe them to the best of my ability in the condition section of each inventory item, especially if something is a little rough. I will always note underlining or highlighting if I notice it when I am inspecting a book to post and any stains or liquid damage.

Good condition to me means something might have normal wear and tear--maybe a few dogeared pages, maybe a few creases in the spine (although I try to note this most of the time), maybe a bent corner, maybe a note or name in the flyleaf, slightly speckled or yellowed pages on an older book, but no extraordinary flaws or abnormal wear.

Some of my books are older. Expect older books to have been read and to not look brand new unless I specify that they look new in the condition notes. If something is unclear, or you would like for me to describe something not listed in the condition, please feel free to email me.

As far as international mooches go, I'll be happy to send out anything that weighs one pound or under when wrapped, although it may take me a couple of weeks to send it out if I'm busy at school. If you'd like to mooch something that's over a pound, please click the mooch button and ask me if I'd be willing to send it. The book will automatically be reserved for you. If you ask nicely and I have the money, I may be able to send it to you. I will not be able to ship anything that weighs more than 4 pounds internationally, though, and would prefer that multiple mooches weigh no more than 4 pounds for the complete order, although I will be happy to break larger orders into 4 pound packets if I need to do so. For further details about my international mooch policy, please refer to my bio.

N.B. I've discovered that my email account's spam filter sometimes blocks my BookMooch correspondence. I'm working to fix the problem and checking my spam folder regularly now, but there's still a chance I might accidentally miss something. IF I DON'T RESPOND TO A RESERVATION WITHIN 4-5 DAYS, PLEASE SEND ME A SECOND EMAIL BEFORE THE RESERVATION EXPIRES. Thanks for being patient.

P.S. Mooching two books at once saves money on postage, especially if you are mooching internationally. If you're mooching one, please look through my inventory and see if there's anything else you might like to read. I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks!

Bio:
I'm a college student who has loved and collected books since early childhood. My favorite books often have a story behind them, like the copy of O. Henry's "Whirligigs" that my dad gave me, or were read during an important period of my life, like "The Grapes of Wrath," "Macbeth," "Harry Potter," and many more. I love reading, writing, knitting, crocheting, and stamp collecting. I love swapping books on BookMooch because it allows me to give books I don't need anymore to fellow book lovers while receiving books I can't find in the used bookstores in my area. Also, I love to receive mail, especially mail with stamps, so that I can add to my burgeoning stamp collection.

I know that book condition is important to some people. I also know that, unless I am collecting a book for my permanent library, it isn't usually very important to me. I own lots of older paperbacks that I bought simply to read and pass on. If I post a book that is in less than good shape, I will note it in the condition. For an idea of what I would consider "good condition," see my status. I will try to detail everything as clearly as I can, but I am not perfect, and if something needs clarification, feel free to email me.

Also, some of my older books lack ISBN numbers and are a slightly different edition than the edition they are posted under. If this is the case, it means that I couldn't find any edition closer to the one I own, and I will note this in the condition. I will always try to make sure that the publication date listed in the details is either correct or correctly noted for the book I have in the condition. I will also try to give as much information as I can glean from the title page as to what edition I actually have.

I try to review books in my inventory if no description for them is posted. If you see that I have missed a book and would like a description of something, email me. For paperbacks, I will usually type in the description of the book from the back cover, and for hardbacks, I'll type the review from the dustjacket. Otherwise, I'll try to find an introduction or review in the back. I'll always let you know where I found the info. If I have read the book, I'll include my opinion in a separately labeled section.

I love the international aspect of BookMooch. I had never mailed anything internationally before joining, but have found the experience fun, if a bit expensive. I mail things internationally using the USPS's "First-Class Mail International" and sometimes the "Priority Mail International flat-rate envelope," depending on the weight. Packages must be under four pounds to ship this way, and are estimated to arrive in 5-10 business days. If I mail something internationally to you, please let me know how long it actually takes to arrive, and I'll update this figure as I receive real-world results from other BookMooch members.

Always email me to ask if you can mooch internationally by clicking the "mooch" button beside the book(s) you want. This will reserve the book(s) for you until I can respond to your request. If you don't click the mooch button, the book will not be reserved, and other BookMooch members can mooch the book you want. This results in an unhappy situation for all parties involved, often including cancelled mooches, rejected requests, headaches for me, and hurt feelings on all sides. If you want something, but you're not sure whether I'll send it, ask by mooching. I'll let you know. If you want to improve your chances of being sent a book, please include a polite note in the comment box of your request. If you have a special reason for wanting the book, or it's incredibly rare or expensive, or you are willing to wait a while for me to muster the money to ship/need it urgently, please tell me, because otherwise I won't know. As a college student who is attempting to acquire books on a limited budget, I'm very sympathetic to well-reasoned requests, and will try harder to work something out for you if you let me know of any special circumstances surrounding a request. As my status states, I will ship anything that weighs one pound or under when wrapped, but may be able to ship larger items if I have the money.

N.B. I'VE DISCOVERED THAT MY EMAIL ACCOUNT'S SPAM FILTER SOMETIMES BLOCKS BOOKMOOCH CORRESPONDENCE. I'M WORKING TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND CHECKING MY SPAM FOLDER REGULARLY NOW, BUT IF I DON'T RESPOND TO A RESERVATION WITHIN 4-5 DAYS, PLEASE SEND ME A SECOND EMAIL. THANKS FOR BEING PATIENT.

Please note: If you desperately desire a book, mooch it now and ask me questions through the comments box of your request or in a separate email. If, after mooching, you decide that you would no longer wish to receive the book, you can always cancel the request (if I have not mailed the book.) If you do not mooch a book, and you decide later after hearing from me that you would like to mooch it, it might be too late. If another member requests to mooch a book while I am responding to your email of inquiry, I will honor their mooch request. The lesson is: if you can't live without it, but are concerned about something, mooch now and ask questions later. If you have patience and are unafraid of being unable to mooch from me, feel free to just email.

In case of a BookMooch request mix-up, I will do my best to honor the first mooch request I have received, as determined by my inbox clock, unless one party in the transaction is incredibly rude. Requests to reserve a book (automatic for international mooches) will be considered as mooch requests (unless I can't mail the book internationally), but inquiries of other sorts (condition of a book, more info on something) will not be considered as requests to mooch.

Please remember to always be polite. It's part of what makes BookMooch a great place.
