Status message:
Feb 2011 -- It feels like the cost of postage is going up. I am going to try and limit the number of mooches I do a month. If you request a book, I will send it but it may take me several weeks to do so depending on recent demand. If you need the book quickly let me know and I will consider sending it sooner. As well requesting more than one book at a time is generally more cost effective for me but is not required. Thanks for your understanding.

Right or wrong, I am the personality type that only reads books once. Maybe twice for the really good ones. I am trying to teach myself that just because a book is good or a gift does not mean I have to keep it. I am starting to realize that it is a tragedy (of small proportions) that good books get read once and sit for years on standby "just in case" I ever want to read it again. In this age of ebay and digital books, I figure most things I can find again if I really need to. Most of my books should go to better homes where they will be enjoyed. Since they are going to bookmooch homes, perhaps they will go through several hands. I think sharing books is way better than sitting on my shelf. At the same time, perhaps I can get some books I wouldn't normally have enjoyed.

This is a joint effort between my wife and I. I mostly have Star Trek books and some of my wife's fantasy books on the shelf to give away. My wife probably owns 5 books for every one I have. I hope by setting up this account she will find an exciting way to unload some of her books. However we are starting with mostly mine with a few of her's sprinkled in. She's looking to replace them with books of her favourite authors she hasn't read. I'm in a bit of a non-fiction phase right now. Most of the books I have read were only read once and are in fairly good shape. Some even look almost brand new. The books my wife has read were likely read several times and show their increased use. I tried my best to accurately report the quality of the book under the condition section of the book.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm thankful for the warm welcome I got from the community. It wasn't even 24 hours and someone showed interest in one of my books and another member sent me a smooch. I am listed as "ask first" for international requests. If the book is a small sized paperback I will almost certainly agree to the request. If it is a heavy or thick book or a hard cover please give me a few to get an estimate from the post office before I approve the request. My intention is fullfill all international requests as long as the post office is reasonable.
